cant find sound card

i have a dell vostro 200 i cant find where my sound card is as i dont have no sound and got a red cross at the bottom right hand corner

Go do device manager and check which sound device is listed. Select "scan for hardware changes" and see if any new sound Device shows up. Select update driver and it it should solve the issue.

If a sound device is listed and has been disabled, enable it and that may do the trick.
