Cant finish registration with D-Link and windows 7 Dlink

Maybe you know the hangup:

My friend wanted a faster router for her new computer and she's using Ethernet now, but she is having hangups during the registration of both her new D-Link router, and her new Dazzle card that she is installing for direct TV purposes. She has Internet through her old router, Linksys, but she says it's too slow, so she got the new one. But in both cases, she hasn't been able to complete the registration process with either new item. It kicks her out after the first page, she says. She has windows 7 on a brand new, fast computer. She has viper as a virus protection. Someone else was trying to help her recently. She does not know where to start to find the problem. She fears this person may have inadvertently locked her out of completing the process, or...we're just not sure. Where should she start to unravel this problem? Thanks!

Have her try disabling the anti virus software temporarily and then trying to finish the registration process. Sounds like it could be a firewall issue.

I've had a similar issue with a D-Link DIR-635 on vista & win7 (xp doesn't seem affected), the workaround I found was to add the access point manually by typing in the SSID manually and the wireless keys manually.

Thanks for your reply. I had already asked her if viper was getting in the way and she believes it isn't. But I'll ask again.
