SD cards have a slider to lock the card. It may be something as simple as that.

You may also be able to try to format the card on your camera or other device once all your data is safely on your computer.

it is a micro sd . i tried format it and delete file with my phone and i still have thne same problem .

I do not think so, but anything is possible.

You have tried 3rd party programs and everything without luck.

Since flash has a limited number of program erase cycles, if it can not program erase, the data stays put.

Unlike a hard drive the overwrites the same data, flash based drives have to erase the data before writing, They also tend to move the data along the full space on the card to keep wearout in check.

While I have never had this issue, users have reported SSD's when failed doing the same thing(becoming read only).

what other thing . something weird , i delete all the file and after that it shows me that the card is empty 29GB free and this is normal , and then 1 minuts later all the files comes back .

That is something I have not seem, It may be some kind of write caching. When you perform operations on some systems they do not happen right away and instead get cached in memory(speeds things up, while still writing the data shortly after). Some users disable this feature for fear of data loss in a power out

Hi, I have the same problem, I tried to delete the folder, format FAT32, on a micro SD 32GB Sony. Every time I safely remove the card and put in the card reader, the old folder appear again , and what I wrote on the card dissapeared.

Sorry to bump to this post, But have this ever been resolved? I'm experiencing the same problem with my Transcend Class 10 32GB Micro SDHC Card. no matter what I do, format, manual erase of files, still, the files return as if nothing happened, like the card is on deep freeze. Anyone got a way to resolve it? please help. thanks in advance!

I have a bad feeling the card may be out of write cycles(flash memory only has so many) or detected it can not longer write new data so it may have gone to a read only type state.

I have never managed to get a card to this state. I have had outright fails(older cards), but never this.

At least data on the card can be taken off and backed up.

okay thank you, sir. I'm going to change my SD Card, but I'd still keep it and keep watch on this thread. If anyone's got a way around the problem, please post it here so everyone with the same experience will benefit from the possible fix ( if there are any ).

Hello guys, I search over the internet found this forum and I encounter the exact same problem as yours. I have a sandisk micro sd card with 32gb memory (i did the partition 20.5gb primary and 9.2gb ext2). This problem happens to me a week ago and still finding a solution to this kind of problem but non of them works for me. I've been using it for almost a year and all of sudden this problem came out.:pfff:

From diskpart, MinitoolPartitionWizard, HPUSBFormattingTool, SD Formatter(it says "SD card is write protected"), Manual window formatting(the result is "windows unable to format"),Android format(used my samsung A5 to format it but the files is still there like nothing happens), Disk wiping/partition (fill with zero or one) and also checked the lock on side of the adapter (i bought two of them with different brand in case one of its lock didnt work or broken) non of them work. I also did tried to delete files using my smartphone and it says "failed to delete".

Luckily, the files in the sd card can still be access and backup (pdf files works perfectly fine, videos and picture can be open & played). I can copy the files and save it to my laptop but i cant delete nor create a files into it(the files i created went missing when i reconnect the sd card to my laptop). I'm hoping for someone here(*since we all had the same problem) who read this to come out with a solution to fix this annoying problem ASAP because from my little research i found that the sd card was actually turn to bad which caused it to become read-only(even the lock on adapter on right position) and i have to buy a new one. So i hope once again this statement is not true bcuz i dont want to waste money on it and the real solution is revealed. Thankyou 😀
