I just installed a new 240gb Kingston V300 ssd into my computer. I am already using a 120gb ssd to run my OS off of. The new ssd shows up in my disk management and in computer but I cannot format it. When I select format the formatting starts normally but I always get an error message saying "Windows was unable to complete formatting." What should I do?

PC specs:
Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit
Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard
Kingston V300 SSD

I click create new simple volume and that completes normally. It assigns a drive letter and the drive in disk management says it has a primary partition. But it says the drive is RAW. But I simply can't get it to format.

Well I feel kind of dumb but it looks like it was a bad SATA cable. I tried unplugging and replugging the same SATA cable but didn't think to check it with a different cable till now. Everything is working fine and the drive has been formatted and is good to go.

I just bought the bad SATA cable today from a Fry's Electronics too. Glad I saved the receipt. Thanks for the help knight_of_baawa.
