i just got ALOT of new pc parts which include gtx 1080 ti, asus z270 mb, and a 750w psu, and i have had a 144hz monitor for about a year or so now but when i took my old gpu and motherboard out to put the new stuff in it is not allowng 144hz, it only shows 60

So far i have tried checking for updates on windows, i have installed all of the newest drivers on the gpu and monitor, also i am using a Display Port to Dvi-D right now could that be the problem?
Any help is appreciated
also this is my monitor
Acer GN246HL Bbid 24-Inch 3D Gaming Display (144Hz Refresh Rate)

Solution
1. Drop some dough on a proper adapter and pray it works.
2. Drop even more dough on a new 144hz monitor that has a displayport.
3. Return the FE card and buy an aftermarket card that has a dual link dvi port.

Likely the adapter is only single link(lpt of cheaps say dual but are only single). A true displayport to dual link dvi adapter is going to set you back about $100 and are known to be tempermental at high refresh rates. Most 1080tis have a dual link dvi port does yours not?
