I am not sure if this is a MB issue or not.
I cant seem to get my system to boot from an inserted CD-ROM. the CD hardware is all OK, the disk is most certainly bootable, and I have set my boot order to CD-ROM, CD-ROM, CD-ROM.
The boot sequence just seems to ignore the CD-ROM and every time goes straight to the hard drive where I have some corrupt system files.
The result is I cant get past a 'windows shut down unexpectedly' screen with the consequence I cant get to my install disk in order to try a repair.
Have I missed something obvious ? Help please.
Thanks.

Go back to the boot options and see if there is another device besides the cd-rom option. Sometimes the cd-rom has a different name in the BIOS.

It will probably look something like this:
HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H20L
That's what mine looks like in the BIOS. I think it's when your detect mode is set on Auto.
