Can't get all speakers on 5.1 surround sound to work unless I put an environment?

For some reason all 5 speakers on my 5.1 speakers won't work unless I put an environment on the realtek HD Audio menu. These environments only make the audio quality worse so I'm wondering if there is any other way to make all speakers work. Thanks.

Solution

Hello,

This is normal, as audio tracks are usually in stereo format. If you don't have some audio tracks in Dolby Digital or DTS format (which are in default 5.1 format), try to use the ROOM or LIVING ROOM environment.

But it's the same with the 5.1 surround sound test on the Dolby website. It doesn't work unless I use an environment.

Same here, it only works when the Environment is activated (for my system, the best results came with the ROOM setting, no "Speaker Fill" or "Loudness Equalisation").

Same with me, best sound is on "Room". BUT, what is interesting, the sound is excellent when I turn that option off and than play something on youtube (Mozilla Firefox). But then it doesn't work on any other media player such as VLC, Winamp, BSplayer etc.!!!
There is some interesting glitch/bug, and I don't know how to fix it. Please don't tell me to reinstall or update, ofc! 😀
