Question Cant get displays to work

Hello,

I have an old monitor that I am trying to connect to my laptop. I have a DVI cable that I have a converter to go to Displayport. Just bought a converter to go to Displayport to USB-C. The USB-C is plugged into my laptop.

I know its connecting though because I hear a noise and its showing "Billboard" in the connected device list.

I have also tried this cable combination with 3 separate monitors with no luck so I am assuming that this is due to the converters I am using.

Any help would be appreciated!

That's too many converters in the chain....

Just get either a cable with the right connectors on each end, or a convertor that does...

And as rgd1101 stated above, only newer laptops with USB-C/TB 4 and support for the DisplayPort 1.4 spec can do video output to a monitor :)

Ah gotcha. So my laptop isn't compatible.

Would it be advisable then to just get a USB to displayport converter?
