Question cant get headphones to work!

Hello! I am having an issue with my headphones where I get no sound or voice and after 3 days of research I am no closer to a solution!
I replaced my mother board and cpu recently and after that my headphones/mic are not working.
I upgraded to a P67 Asrock extreme 4 and an I5-2400. Here's the problem, my friends mic works when I plug it into my pc. Also, mine works in his so I know the mic isn't broken and its not a hardware issue. Please help!
GPU-RTX 2060
cPU- i5-2400
Motherboard- Asrock P67 extreme4
Power supply- corsair 850W
RAM- 2x8 corsair DDR3

Did you make appropriate settings in Control Panel > sound and install proper drivers for audio?

Are they USB headphones and mic?
If they are 3.5mm (TRS/TRRS), how many rings do you see on the connector? Some 4 connector (3 rings) jacks don't work properly in some receptacles because of poorly followed specs either on the jack or receptacle side.
Also, are you literally testing with your friends headphones and then plugging yours into to the same jack?
