Can't get microphone to play through both channels on sound card.

(wasn't quite sure what forum to put this in so I put it in "systems" since a sound card is a form of hardware).

The built in microphone audio jack for my PC causes a significant amount of buzzing, I have an external sound card which does not do this and makes my overall microphone quality better however the card uses two microphone inputs to allow for stereo microphones. I only want to have to use one microphone which can't be done simply by plugging one in as it only plays it through one audio channel. Is there anyway I could get it to play through both channels through software or even some form of adapter? Thanks for your help.

I've still got the same problem, it would be grand to be able to have a microphone that doesn't deafen my friends on Skype. Believe me when your friend starts saying "The hurricane has started again" it means something needs to be done.

All I need is to be able to have my microphone play through both right and left, there are two 3.5" microphone inputs (left and right for a stereo microphone setup). Could I use software to 'trick' Windows into believing that it is playing through both or could I use some form of adapter?
