Can't get monitor out of standby mode.

Sometimes when I've let the monitor be in standby mode for long enough I find that I can't bring the display back up, meaning I have to restart the computer. The keyboard won't wake it and neither will the mouse, the mouse is wireless and I noticed that for some reason it doesn't connect to it's USB counterpart. A while ago I tried to find solutions and found on another post on here that I should untick the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." box in all of the USB Root Hub's properties. This worked for a time but then while I had left my PC on downloading something over night it crashed some time throughout. I also just noticed now that the PC has reticked all of these boxes. What could the issue possibly be and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Solution
Go to control panel
[once you get there change the view to icons instead of catagories ... near the top right of the window .. makes it easier to navigate ]

You are looking for power options
Check everything is set up as you want it to be .
Try saving a power profile .

If that doesnt work you can try fishing through your computers BIOS .
In there there will be
1/ power scheme settings
and
2/ settings for which devices can wake the computer

Well I don't know the specific terms in this situation but I haven't put the computer into sleep mode (as in where it powers down but when you turn it on your previous session is all still there), I've just left the PC alone and the monitor has gone into standby. Don't know if that's because the computer is in standby or whatever but just figured I'd say that in case what I said before was confusing or anything haha.

No, I'm running Windows 8.

P.S Thanks for replying. :p
