cant get my barton 2500 very high part 2 !

i received my new card today, and i still get the same mother [-peep-] problem... for those who dont remember, i got a:

asus a7n8x deluxe 2.0
barton 2500
ati aiw 9700 pro
1 gb ocz 3200 at 2.8 and cl 2.5
maxtor serial ata 120 gb
ps 420 watts

so here's what happened so far: my memory should be alright, i ran memtest withouth any errors. my agp card was replaced and shouldnt be a problem now, but i still have the same problem.

as soon as i push my barton after 1800 mhz, should it be at 166 or 200 fsb, i start getting a complete screen corruption in applications like 3d mark or prime 95 after a minute or so. if my barton is clocked at 1600 or 1700, everything is ok... can it really be my cpu ? or my mobo ?

i should be able to test my agp card on my bro's computer and see if everything works, but getting two defect cards one after another doesn't happen everyday.

do you have your agp lock enabled? Do you have good case ventalation?

I am betting you are overclocking your agp bus causing "issues"

When u figure this out please let me know, I'm having the same problem. The problem is even stranger for me though.
my sys:
Barton 2500+
A7N8X Deluxe 2.0
1gb OCZ PC3500 EL series (2/3/3/7 dual channel mode)
Radeon 9800pro 256mb
2 SATA WD Raptors (raid0)
520watt vantec psu
Liquid cooled CPU, Chipset, GPU (I usually run at about 23 degrees C or less)
Nothing in my case runs over 40 degrees C even under full load.
All temps, fanspeeds, voltages, etc are monitored by hardware probes. The innovatek fan o matic rocks!

I can't run my barton over 166mhz fsb or my machine becomes incredibly unstable. I should easily be able to set it up to 200mhz fsb though, my ram would still be underclocked even then
I have tried locking the agp at 66mhz in the bios but it didn't help and I have tried setting the cpu vcore all the way up to 1.9v (no change in core temp even then
I have active cooling on the ram modules so they run at about 30 degrees C or less.
Increasing the multiplyer does not cause instability though, I can run at about 2.3ghz easily with no crashes. I can't live with just a 166mhz fsb though, going to 200mhz makes a big difference.

-see your bios revision, asus a7n8x dlx, and others a7n8....., are in 1007 rev bios.
- one of these revisions are just for recognize news cpus.
- see the week of the fabrication your bartons, bartons made after week 30/2003 are better.

I have rev 1006, I am using this because the 1007 updates the sata bios and I currently have 2 sata raptors striped. I don't want updating the sata bios to crap out my stripe.
I bought my cpu a couple weeks ago but I'll sell it to my bro and get a new one anyway.

try this in your bios set:
-fsb 200mhz
-memory "agressive" mode
-fsb 11x
-all voltage in default
my hard is the same yours, but with twin 256mb corsair 3200 low latency LL
and with this set i have a 2500@3200xp barton.
forget the bios revision 1007, the 1006, are for new cpus

I think I'll try another kind of ram, maybe this asus board doesn't like ocz ram. asus boards are very picky
I'll borrow some coarsair from someone.

I think I fixed the problem. The fix is the dumbest thing ever, I can't believe I didn't think of it. I saw that my ocz ram is still under warranty up to 2.9vdimm so I thought I would just put up the voltage a little and see what happens. I changed the vdimm from 2.6 to 2.7 and so far it has been running very smoothly. If anything else happens I'm going to blame my radeon

A friend of mine had the same problem and very similar setup.
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
XP2500+
512 OCZ PC3200 at 2.7V (cl2.5)
ATI AIW9600PRO
Maxtor SATA 120GB
Enermax 431Watt PSU

It would run fine up to about 1650MHZ, but standard clock speed wouldn't run properly.
We never really figured out why his system was behaving that way, but we got his running by leaving the FSB at 100MHZ until we had absolutely every driver and windows update available installed on his system.

Then we could clock the FSB beyond 200MHZ with no apparent problems.
BTW, you may want to borrow a good psu just to make sure that isn't the problem.

Also, if you plan to run a 200MHZ FSB, make sure your proccessor's stepping code is AQXEA or AQZEA. Earlier stepping codes don't work as well.
