Hello, I need help getting my graphics card to work. When plugged in it comes up with a black screen and no display is on the monitor. It works fine when the gpu is plugged out on integrated graphics. I recently bought a new amd r9 380 sapphire 4gb for my desktop because it was getting a little slow, only to find that everything I tried didn't work, and I spent at least 3 weeks trying every possible solution. I took it to a repair shop to discover the graphics card was faulty. I returned it and bought a different gigabyte r9 380 4gb, only to find this didn't work either, and I be tried everything with it. Is my computer frying the graphics cards? Im only a student so i dont have the money to spend to take it to a shop to get it installed. I can't think of any other solution. Here are my current specs:
Mobo: MSI a75ma-g55
PSU: Corsair CX500 (brand new)
CPU: AMD something

Heres What I've Tried:
-Disabling Integrated Graphics
-CMOS reset
-Safe Mode (won't boot with graphics card)
-Installing Driver Software
The only thing I don't know how to do is update the bios, I click the .exe file and nothing happens. Pls someone help I can't stop crying myself to sleep

Solution

Quite possible your PSU cannot handle the full load of your graphic cards.

Try taking them to the shop and asking them to check on a PSU with your specifications and then another PSU with higher wattage.

Also double check to use latest graphic drivers from AMD and not use what is on the CD.

I know this seems like a stupid question. But have you tried taking the video card out unplugging it and everything and entirely restarting the installation process. You're PSU wouldn't notice any problems until you started doing heavy tasks. I wouldn't mess around with your bios because that can seriously just mess you up. Try reinstalling it. Make sure it clicks totally into the slot, make sure the power connectors are totally in. If that all doesn't work. Contact AMD for warranty, it could just be a dud.

the msi utility program to update your bios its called "live update 6"

the update program needs net framework 4.0 to be installed to run
