Hey guys, ive been struggling with my NAT type when playing my PS3 and PS4 and ive been playing with the settings trying to get it working but im not having much luck.
I want to be able to turn on either of my consoles, both at the same time if i want and always have a good connection to my games. I primarily play COD.
I tried putting my consoles in the DMZ on my router (i have ATT Uverse router) but whenever i put either of my consoles in the DMZ i cannot connect to the games servers for some reason. Also when one of my consoles is in the DMZ the internet connection status says the NAT type is unavailable.
So i tried to allow the individual application to my console. I did this on my ps4 first, i just added a bunch of applications to the allowed list and i scored an open nat type on my ps4 on black ops 3. I tried to do the same thing with my ps3 but apparently if i set an application in the allowed list on my ps4 then i cannot allow the same application on my ps3. Just looking at the application list i cannot tell which is the game i want on either console. I started removing applications from my ps4s list (cause i just added a bunch of them til i got my NAT open) but it seems il have to remove all of them if i want an open NAT on my ps3. If only putting my ps3 in the DMZ would solve this. When i put my ps3 in the DMZ though it says NAT is N/A and i get an error from the game saying i cannot connect to the game servers. If i remove my ps3 from the DMZ i can connect but i have a strict NAT type and cannot ever find a game.
Im looking to try port forwarding now but i cannot find the settings for that in my router and i dont know what ports i would need to forward to get my NAT open.
Does anyone have any idea what i should do? Perhaps someone else has had the same problem im having and knows what i should do.
I have my router upstairs and a hard wire running downstairs to an 4 port router that i turned into a switch. And from that switch it runs to an 8 port switch that i have both my consoles plugged into along with a Desktop and an xbox that i never use. Every device plugged into the switch has its own IP so nothing is overlapping. And the connection speeds themselves are good on all devices. My download speed on my ps4 is usually 36mbs and upload is 3-4 mbs. I just cant get a good connection to the game for both my ps3 and ps4.
If i want to switch from my ps4 to my ps3 or vice versa i always have to change the router settings and reset the router and then i end up waiting a couple hours because even after i change the settings it wont allow me to connect to the game immediately. Its weird.
