Hi,

I was helping a friend put a build together yesterday and we finished the build and everything, however when it came time to turn on the PSU, there was no life whatsoever.

There were no LEDs on the motherboard, no POST beeps, no fans spinning.

I did a series of troubleshooting:

  • Reinstalled the ram in different spots.
  • Uninstalled the GPU
  • Uninstalled the SSD and Hard Drives
  • Did the 'paper clip test' on the PSU. the PSU passed the test and the fan spun.
  • Checked CPU for any bent pins, none were found.
  • Replugged in all cables and made sure everything was plugged in properly. (24-pin, 8-pin CPU, HD Audio, USB 3.0, F_Panel, etc...
Since there was no change with any of the things I have tried and the CPU is still in mint condition, the PSU powers on, and no change when the GPU was installed, I am led to believe that the motherboard was dead on arrival.

Does anyone have any ideas at something I may have missed or if there's something else that could have caused this?

Replacing the motherboard today, will update then.

Thank you
