Cant get nvidia gtx 660 ti to connect with my TV

Hello!

First off, im working with:

Samsung 42inch plasma TV
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4Ghz
Win 7 home 64bit service pack 1
Nvidia GTX 660 ti (2048mb memory)

First of all I need to start saying, when I first bought my computer the HDMI from my computer to the TV worked, then I went out travelling for a month and when I got back and re-plugged my computer it refuses to find the TV and the TV is saying "No signal" when I connect the HDMI cable.

And when I turn off the computer with the cable plugged into the TV the TV says "check cable, no signal" and if I take out the hdmi cable from the computer while the TV is on and plugg it back in the TV makes the normal "bluescreen loading".. BUT then just says "no signal"...

So I can clearly see that the TV gets a signal but my nvidias control panel says there is no TV and the same from windows graphics control panel.. and I have also tried to "force the tv connection" without results from the nvidia control panel.

I've also updated the drivers without results, uninstalled them complete and installed them again without results..
BUT, when I tried the cable AND same TV with another computer and it worked just fine.

Another thing is that I cant just have the HDMI cable from my normal monitor (BENQ 22inch senseye 3) to the computer, to make it work i need a dvi adapter to the normal monitor cable...


I've googled this hard and looks like more people have the same problem without getting a solution so lets se if anyone here can help me/us?

never tried hdmi to hdmi on mine but I use a dvi[vid card] to hdmi [hdtv] and it works except sound in witch I have better speakers than the tv anyway . also relook at your TV's manual to be sure that you hooked it up correctly it may require a certain port and settings for pc to work [mine states to use hdmi port 4 for pc]

Sounds like the HDMI port on the card is bad. The top clue to that is that it does not work with your monitor either. If it's in warranty, get it replaced.

sorry I missed that but seems that your card should have had that adaptor in the box at least all mine did oh well sorry about my last post to you I just mis read that part

Unless I'm reading it wrong, I thought it works for the OP if they use a hdmi cable from his monitor into a dvi adapter then dvi into the gpu?

In that setup his gpu is outputting via dvi, not hdmi

Which as hang-the-9 stated, would suggest the hdmi port on the gpu is bad

To me the "normal monitor cable" is a VGA cable, which means the HDMI port is not working with the monitor either.

I'm still working on my 10th cup of java. so excuse me for my dumbness... but I was sitting thinking that a long time ago when I last used NVidia seemed like there was something about it along this line but I just cant put my finger on it it was like you had to use the dvi to do this thing and that hdmi to hdmi was restricted to were it would not function[???] but that was like back in there 8800 days... and so to this day I still ues that old dvi to hdmi cable for myself.. and also that that card had 2 dvi ports that one had some ''holes'' blocked and one did not but you had to use one or the other to have it work.. [man I'm getting old and forgetful] but before I junk the card I would find that dvi adapter and retry ... some one bound to have one laying around....
