Can't get Python 3.5.2 IDLE to run

I've been trying for a few hours to get Python 3.5.2 IDLE to run on my laptop but every time I try and open it, I get the following Error message: "pythonw.exe - System Error
The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I have uninstalled and re-installed several times but I continue to get this error every time I try and use IDLE.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you google the "api-ms-win-crt-runtime" you get this -- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226

Double check the prerequisites before updating ...
