Can't get sound In Games!!

So i have reinstalled windows and i cant seem to get any sound in any game. i have installed direct x and the latest driver for my onboard sound card. I really have no clue what to do next did i miss something?

I5 3570k
Asrock z 77 pro 4m
8gbs ram
gtx 460

Check your sound settings in Control Panel. You will probably find that Windows is using digital out instead of analog.

umm how do i check that agian? sorry im new

Open Control Panel from the Start menu, find and open "Sound". You will see all output devices listed.

yea i got that and i see that i am connected to my speakers and i cant change that to analog

also i forgot to mention i have my amplifier plugged in at the headphone jack at the front of the computer
