Hi having a minor problem and not sure what the issue is. After building my pc when I went to do a test boot with everything except the graphics card I could not get to the bios screeen. Instead my PC was black and in white text said: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot meida in selected boot device and press a key. I have not installed windows onto it yet but i dont know why the bios would not start up. My mother board is a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5.

Solution
the mb is posting. that message is normal when there no os drive found. with new mb if your using a wireless keyboard it may not be turning on to where it seeing your key hit to go into the bios. see if someone has a wired usb keyboard. also see if your mb has usb 2.0 ports. put the keyboard there. also clear the cmos if it done right you should get the message hit f2/f1 to enter set up. make sure at this time you use the onboard gpu only whe nyou can get into the bios set it to boot from peg/pci port first not auto. if it set to auto it can boot from onboard or the gpu at power on.
