can't get to boot menu or bios

I did a windows update , hit restart and as it's booting, it hangs up at the motherboard splash screen. can't hit f8 or delete so my startup disk won't work. it's just stuck there and i don't know what to do. help please.

You can always try to disconnect your HDD. Without a disk, the mboard will usually default into BIOS. You can start there.

it's working now; all evidence points to a weak battery in my wireless mouse....could it be this one simple thing?
