Can't handle Windows 7.

Hello,
What is a small, inexpensive laptop that DOES NOT have Windows 7. I'm an old guy and my desktop with Windows 7 is now so screwed up with their UPGRADES that I can't use it.

Any Windows PC will act the same as 7. You probably have downloaded a bunch of virus and spyware, nothing from Microsoft that's causing you the issues. The same thing will happen with XP. Backup your files and settings (Favorites, etc...) and restore the system to factory defaults. I suggest taking a computer class also or having someone that knows about computers help you out a bit.
