Can't insert DVD/CD

I've had this for quite some time and have never got to it.

Anyone else had this before?

Is the drive showing up in Device Manager? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming no discs are being recognized.

I've had SATA drives appear dead only to come back when the connectors are re-seated. I think this is a design flaw in the SATA connector system. The contact area is too small with not enough pressure.

With the amount of noise the drive seemed to be making I would suggest just replacing it.
