Can't install BackTrack 5 R3 in VirtualBox

My specs:
HP ProBook 445 G1 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Processor: AMD A10 5750 APU

I tried to install BackTrack 5 R3 (The KDE Version) on Virtual Box (Version 4.3.12 r93733). Whenever I run it, it shows a screen where I select BackTrack Text (must be the boot screen) and then some stuff starts loading. But, I always see this message:

"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."

I tried googling and found that it might be an issue with the Virtualization Technology (VTx) not being enabled in the BIOS of my laptop. I enabled it, but BackTrack still doesn't work and displays the same message.

Have you enabled VT-x in VirtualBox itself? I imagine that if it wasn't supported when you created the VM the option was probably disabled. Check the System page in the VM settings. As a side note, you should probably use Kali (http://www.kali.org/downloads/). BackTrack is obsolete.

Short correction to the above solution: VT-x is intel's virtualization extension. Since the OP has an AMD processor, he will be looking for AMD-v.
