There's this MSI laptop (GE62VR 6RF) that is giving me a headache. it was sold without a OS (freeDOS) so we had to install a windows on it. I have to mention it came with a 256GB THNSN5256GPU7 TOSHIBA SSD and a 1TB HDD.
At first I couldn't install windows of any of those drives. for the SSD it was giving me the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." error and when I tried to install it on the HDD it gave me the "We couldn’t create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files." error. I figured its because windows can't be installed when there are drives connected at the same time but I couldn't remove one of them because this peace of **** of a laptop doesn't have easily removable drives and I had to void the warranty to do that so what I did was instead of removing one of them I changed the mode from AHCI to RAID so that it wouldn't recognize the SSD anymore and then I proceeded to install the windows on the HDD.
Now I changed it back to AHCI but when I try to clone the windows into SSD it wont boot. UEFI isn't an option either because nothing is detected in that mode. is the SSD provided in this masterpiece by MSI useless?

When you change drive types in the BIOS it will not work, you have to keep it the same as when it was setup. There is a registry hack you can do to try to fix that though https://winaero.com/blog/switch-from-ide-to-achi-after-installing-windows-7-or-windows-8/

What version of Windows are you installing and did you go into the advanced drive options to delete the existing partitions and create a new one for the setup?
