This morning I woke up and my display was all wonky, the resolution had changed to a lower resolution, i don't know what happened, but my sound had also went to my Monitor TV instead of my speakers, so I rebooted my Computer, went to work and came back 7 hours later and windows said something about a failed update. shrug idk, I think it did. Anyways, now I can't install a driver, all i get is ]http://www.imagebam.com/image/bd7465531901344 and http://www.imagebam.com/image/f0789d531901346] when I go to the display and update drivers it goes back to recognizing my video card like this http://www.imagebam.com/image/36279b531901345, but after I try to install any update using the Geforce Exprience or the updates from the website it the Display goes back to the "Other Devices" section. Btw this is on Windows 10 64bit, I've been having issues since the day I installed windows 10, it's been a few months.

Thats strange you cant go six months without something going wrong. It does seem like a fresh install is in the near future if you have had no lick with the software I linked you to. Have you tried it in safe mode?
OK... Does your system have a built in GPU? If yes, do this:

Pull the GTX980 and plug into the onboard video.
Uninstall ALL the Nvidia Driver software and restart
make sure you have video and sound.

Run chkdsk on the computer (right click the Start button and select Command prompt (admin))
type in chkdsk and hit enter
Does it say there are any errors/bad sectors?
If no, shut down
If yes, type in chkdsk /f and hit enter, it will and about scheduling on restart, type in yes and hit enter. Restart.

Once complete, shut down and install the GPU and start up. If you uninstalled everything it wll see a GPU but only give basic drivers.

Now download, directly from Nvidia, the current release of the suite, not beta.

Install it and restart...

Ok now?

I meant tp say, is that I already have the basic drivers, but when I try to update drivers, of course it fails and leaves me without even the basic drivers.

I also forgot to mention that I had the most recent drivers update for the GTX 980, but sometime the night before my sound went out, so when I rebooted the PC, and when, I can't remember what it said, but it said that Windows failed to update or something like that, it took so long to reboot I had to wait until i got home from work to check it out. So when I got home the Video was all messed up, Geforce Exprience was still there but Nvidia Control panel has vanished, mind you it was there before all of this had happen.

I also had just built this rig a few months ago, I first install windows 7 it ran like a charm, but I fully uninstalled it and installed Windows 10 and have been dealing with low memory for the longest of times since installing windows 10.

I hope i'm not having hardware issues.

Okay, the drivers that installed is 21.21.13.7653 which I read that the recent windows update forced, so I'm guessing that this what my issue is. For some reason I still can't revert to the previous drivers, I don't know why. I'd be find with these drivers if I could download Nvidia control panel and change the resolution.

I did what you asked, still it fails, i even used the software you linked and still it tries to install the drivers, it makes a usb disconnect sound twice, then a a usb connect sound and it fails out. Btw earlier i was able to successfully install The Nvidia 358.91 with no problems, yet anything else I have an issue with. Also Control center doesn't seem to want to work with 358.91

Ha ha The only restore point I have is way after the problem started and it's listed as "Critical". Geez, I feel like a Fresh window install is in the near future. It's a shame, I don't know what could have caused this. A Virus or a bad install of some software. It seems like most of my computer issues happen when I'm asleep I can never go six months without something going wrong with my computer.

As much as it pains me I had to do a fresh install, and guess what? It worked, the newest driver installed like a charm! Glad you stuck with me buddy, I truly appreciate the help and your persistence. I was just afraid to do a fresh install because of loss of Soft, ware, games and files, but the bulk of it are games, I can just re-download them.

Oh well, I'm just glad it wasn't any type of hardware issue. I think I had driver issues/conflict. Though I did do a fresh windows 10 install about 3 months ago, I used PC mover to move over some of my window settings, 3rd party software, files etc and i believe that's where my problem stemmed from. Anyways again, thanks!

Glad it's working again and not a hardware issue. I understand the pain of having to reinstall gqmes, and that's why I have a separate 4tb hard drive just for my origin and steam games. I have a 4tb hard drive for my movies, 1tb for music and back up files and my 2tb for my OS install.
