I've been trying unsuccessfully to update my R9 390 AMD drivers to the newest version, and have been getting "Error 1603". Looking at the log, it shows the AMD Display Driver failed to install. While trying the troubleshooting steps on AMD's website, I used the "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" command, which resulted in another error displaying this message: "Error 1117. The requested operation could not be performed due to an I/O device error."
I also tried to do a clean uninstall with AMD's clean uninstall tool, but I still get the Error 1603 when attempting to install new drivers, and now I can't use my graphics card at all. Thanks!

Try running these two apps.
CCleaner: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
It will clean up a myriad of problems with registry errors, software conflicts, junk files, etc.
DDU: http://www.wagnardsoft.com/
Run it from safe mode and have it uninstall any AMD and Nvidia drivers and their leftover remnants that can cause issues.
Then try the driver install again. If no luck, you may have a bad piece of hardware.

Still getting the same error ):
The thing is, my graphics card worked fine with the old drivers, until I used AMD's clean install utility hoping it would let me install the new ones (which didn't work).

Oh yeah I'll try that out tomorrow, and post if it works.

p.s. Thanks for the help!
