I just built a new pc. everything went smooth in the process (except for me not knowing how to install an am4 cpu cooler.) ive tried everything and i just cant install DXSETUP.exe (P.S im trying to install oculus)
orI had experienced the same problems with Oculus installation, also a similar problem with installation of Steam direct X files and I discovered that it was (for me anyhow) as there was a space in my username in Windows 10 (was Tim G, now TimG). Once I removed the space, everything installed correctly.
To do this:
Open start and in search box, type netplwiz, click OK.
Select the account you want to modify and click on the properties button.
Change the username to one you want to use (WITHOUT spaces) and click APPLY, OK.
Restart windows.
You should now be able to install Oculus software (and STEAM software too) successfully.
It should beUpdate: i just found out with the error on the installer it says, "C:\Users|ADMINAppData\Local\Temp\IXP001.TMP\DXSETUP.exe \silent"
After admin there should be a hashtag and the user and appdata aren't seperated, right path is: "C:\Users|ADMIN#\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP001.TMP\DXSETUP.exe \silent"
I found it out myself while looking at the errorDid you find that yourself or from elsewhere?
I don't know if you will be able to fix that yourself or if its something they need to from their end
its like that when i check, it is valid and points normally. It should be
C:\Users\example\AppData\Local\
where example should be the login name of someone that has admin rights.
Click the windows button type in path and go to that settings windows, make sure that the temp and tmp user variables point to a valid place, if you can point them to the root of a drive so that there shouldn't be any admin conflicts anymore, you can change that back afterwards.
im starting to lose hope and thinking about deleting windows and reinstalling it but i dont wanna have to install everything againits like that when i check, it is valid and points normally.
