I just built a new pc. everything went smooth in the process (except for me not knowing how to install an am4 cpu cooler.) ive tried everything and i just cant install DXSETUP.exe (P.S im trying to install oculus)

Solution
It could be spaces in your user name
I had experienced the same problems with Oculus installation, also a similar problem with installation of Steam direct X files and I discovered that it was (for me anyhow) as there was a space in my username in Windows 10 (was Tim G, now TimG). Once I removed the space, everything installed correctly.

To do this:

Open start and in search box, type netplwiz, click OK.
Select the account you want to modify and click on the properties button.
Change the username to one you want to use (WITHOUT spaces) and click APPLY, OK.
Restart windows.

You should now be able to install Oculus software (and STEAM software too) successfully.
or
try making a new local user account...
Still don't see the need to install old DX drivers. I have dx9 (from sdk) installed on my Win10 pc, it installed flawlessly since dx9 and dx10/11/12 use different drivers. I didn't specify paths or install instructions like /silent etc, just ran the Dxsetup exe. Had to unpack it first though, it doesn't run from a compressed file.

Update: i just found out with the error on the installer it says, "C:\Users|ADMINAppData\Local\Temp\IXP001.TMP\DXSETUP.exe \silent"
After admin there should be a hashtag and the user and appdata aren't seperated, right path is: "C:\Users|ADMIN#\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP001.TMP\DXSETUP.exe \silent"
It should be
C:\Users\example\AppData\Local\
where example should be the login name of someone that has admin rights.

Click the windows button type in path and go to that settings windows, make sure that the temp and tmp user variables point to a valid place, if you can point them to the root of a drive so that there shouldn't be any admin conflicts anymore, you can change that back afterwards.
