Can't install Linux from any distro it seems.

So I have a wierd problem, when trying to install ubuntu or arch my screen just turns off after clicking install and refuses to turn on while I can hear my pc working because of the fans. I tried swapping GPUs, I tried swapping DVI and HDMI connectors but it didnt work. Later on I tried installing Debian on a hunch, and it worked up until I selected a drive I wanted to install it to, a clean properly working drive (I have tested it), but I get "the ext4 file system creation in partition #1 (0,0,0)(sdb) failed", tried with a different debian release and I got the same deal. It just seems that the universe is telling me not to install linux.. I have checked if the USB is faulty, I have followed the solutions of all other threads except for one where I have to flash my bios.

Any suggestions?

Your question sounds as if you have two separate issues. Forgetting about the issue with Debian for right now, lets just deal with your graphics issue. Do you have a GPU? What kind of CPU do you have, AMD or Intel? If you have a separate GPU and an Intel CPU, just plug your monitor straight into your motherboard and try it that way and see what happens.

Okay, funny thing is just as you wrote this I managed to solve the video issues with nomodeset, so there is that. I have a 710 and a 970 (planning on vga passthrough). My cpu is a fx8350 so sadly no intergrated graphics.

On the debian topic, does it matter if a disk is MBR or GPT?
On another note, when trying to install arch I couldn't find my hdd that I prepared for linux. Converted it from MBR to GPT and tried again but nothing.

Any ideas?
