I'm trying to install a brand new WD Blue m.2 sata ssd into my lenovo v530-15icb but it isnt recognised by windows or the bios. Ive trawled forums for hours trying different things with no luck.

I forked out for the lenovo m.2 ssd kit, I tried updating the bios, disconnecting all other drives, ive tinkered with various bios settings but nothing has worked.

I then thought maybe its faulty so bought a usb 3.0 adapter. now its recognised by windows as usb storage but i cannot access it or initialise it or utilise it in any way. If i click on it in explorer it says 'please insert disk into drive F'. So im guessing it recognises the adapter but not the ssd?

either I'm missing something or the m.2 ssd is in fact faulty, any suggestions?

OK thanks for clearing that up at least I know I'm not going crazy

In those specs it mentions 256gb m. 2 ssd, does that mean that is the largest capacity that is compatible? Or could I install a 1tb card?

Also, is there a way I could use this sata ssd with the USB adapter as a USB drive or is it completely useless to my system?

Thanks again for your help
