I know this may sound trivial, but I was trying to install an M.2 SSD in my friends PC, he was using a
SATA SSD until now. His motherboard is an Asus B450M-K.

There are no nuts (if this is the right term) to put screws that hold the SSD in place. As in the picture there are only empty holes:

I looked at my PC and there is preinstalled part to put screws in,
I know that's how it came when I bought it,
But on my friends Asus B450M-K motherboard, this part is missing.

I dont know, is this how it came out of the box?
What to do now?
Where to buy this part and what is it called, and do we have to remove mobo from the case to install it?
Please let me know if you can see the image.

Thanks in advance

I believe that what you are looking for are the "stand-offs".

This motherboard?

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/..._PRIME_B450M-K_UM_WEB.pdf?model=PRIME B450M-K

[Do verify that I found the applicable User Guide/Manual.]

As I understand the User Guide, the motherboard uses (can use) an anchoring system .

Rererence Pages 1-10 and 1-11.

I am not familar with the use of the anchoring device (Anchor) so will need to defer to those who have used the Anchor and know more about it. I have not seen one and the referenced pages are the first time that I have noted the device being available for use. Very likely that there are "pro's" and "con's" to using the Anchor.

Likely that the "Anchor" is cheaper than providing metal or plastic stand-offs. Cost-cutting....

Anchor quality - TBD.

Overall though, I would take the time to install (if at all possible) the proper stand-offs to ensure that all will be solidly secure.

You can easily find many links about installing stand-offs.

Start here for a general overview of the requirements and installation process:

https://www.cgdirector.com/motherboard-standoffs-guide/

Then look for the applicable motherboard (Asus) documentation specific to the installed motherboard.

There may be other ideas and suggestions posted.

Thanks, I didn't know the right term in English, I am not native English speaker.
That is MB.
We will look to but that anchor part, as it seams it didn't come with MB.

Anyway, it looks as it is easier way to install M.2 with anchor, better than using screws. I always have problem as that screws are so tiny.

Standoffs also use tiny screws.
