So, I snagged an Inspiron 545s in a trade and decided I would attempt to piece it back together. The Mother board, optical drive, and power supply were pretty much the only thing it came with. I installed two 2GB DDR2 DIMM 240PIN RAM, and a 1TB WD 10EURX Hard Drive. I'm using the on board VGA with a brand new cable. No sure what the power cord is from (an old CRT monitor, I think), and my own KB and mouse.
Getting to the CMOS is its own battle. You have to drain all the power including the Mothrboard battery to get to it, but never mind that. My problem at this point is that I can change the boot order but neither disc or usb seems to work. I've tried Discs with iso and cdr, and I've tried multiple versions of Linux Mint with the usb using both a manual usb disk creation and a freely available app. Not sure what to do.
