I'm trying to install driver for my new computer that I built.
When I install the lastest driver from http://support.amd.com/ it does nothing at all, I tried looking in the device manager to see if the driver has changed but it stays at "Standard PnP".

To find the driver on http://support.amd.com/ I manually selected with these steps:

    ■ Desktop Graphics
    ■ Radeon R9 Series
    ■ Radeon R9 2XX Series
    ■ Windows 8.1 - 64 Bit

The computer specifications are:

  • ■ GIGABYTE Radeon R9 280X OC - 3GB GDDR5
    ■ AMD FX-6300 Black - AM3+ - Box
    ■ GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (Rev 4.1)
    ■ G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3-1600 C9 DC - 4GB
    ■ EVGA White Power 500 - 500W PSU
    ■ Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64 Bit

During the install process do any weird error messages pop up? About 2 months ago, right before AMD released the new drivers Microsoft released some patches and caused those drivers to fail during install. Had to uninstall the MS patches, install drivers, then reinstall the patches after the drivers were working.

The first time I tried, Windows crashed but I fixed that by unchecking HDMI from installing. There is no error messages, at the end it just says it was successfull.

1. Install driver fusion
2. Uninstall Intel graphic driver.
3. Reboot in safe mode
4. Clean Intel and AMD drivers with driver fusion.
5. Shut down.
6. Unplug your computer.
7. Install new graphic card in PCI-E 16x slot (upper one if you have more than one)
8. Plug all the required power connectors in your card.
9. Plug monitor into your new graphic card.
10. Plug back powercord into your computer.
11. Boot into windows and install new drivers and application profiles (they are separate files)

Not to insult your intelligence, but is the monitor plugged into the GPU display ports, as opposed to the mobo's?
