My laptop came preinstalled with a 32bit Vista Home Basic but just recently I run Win 7 and it works perfectly fine except for the vga card driver, I can't find this driver that supports Win 7. And I believe the Manufacturer will not create, update, or release this driver in question to support Win 7, at least not anytime soon.
Then I managed to go back to 32bit Vista Home Basic, I tried to install it but it kept hanging on "WPEINIT". It didn't let the setup run, just getting stuck at a command prompt that showed "X:\windows\system32>wpeinit". I am now miserable 'cause I can't use Win 7 forever without a proper vga card driver installed. And I'm tired of getting this fixed after a lot of attempts, nothing worked. I couldn't run Win 8 because there is also no vga driver support. I couldn't run WinXP 'cause it said my existing OS couldn't downgrade to WinXP.
By the way, I lost my genuine Vista installation CD long time ago. So I installed it with an iso file (downloaded from a website) but it didn't work due to wpeinit.
Here are my questions:
1) if I install Windows Vista with a genuine Vista disc, will the installation run successfully?
2) If I install newer Vista versions, my existing vga driver (Vista Home Basic) will also work? Like, drivers that support Vista Home Basic can support other Vista versions, too?
Sorry about the length, I need to provide details of these problems. Please help me get through this 'cause I'd rather not spend money in vain for this if it will not work. I'd appreciate you help, thanks.
