I have bought a new pc (Gigabyte z270 k3, Core i5 7600k, GTX 1070, 16 GB ram, 1 TB HDD). i have made a bootable usb with windows media creation tool but when i boot with it it gets stuck at the blue logo with the spinning dots.

I managed to install windows 7 from dvd and they were also freezing near the end but when i removed mouse and keyboard it installed.

I also tried to upgrade from within windows 7 to see if i could install it without using a usb port but after the restart it once again got stuck in the logo with the spinning dots.

Please help!

having not installed win 10 for about a year, are the spinning dots right at start of the install?

I don't suppose you have any extra USB devices attached? it might be an external device stopping it.

normally if win 10 doesn't want to install, its going to be hardware stopping it.

You might want to text your ram using memtest86 as bad ram can stop an install (and before you ask, win 10 more sensative to ram problems than 7 so might explain why one let you install before having issues). It creates a USB so doesn't need windows to run. Any errors are too many, need to rma sticks if you get any.

Yes the spinning dots are at the very beginning.
No, only the usb flash drive.

I did a memtest too but it showed no errors.

One thing i noticed is that on windows 7 device manager, ethernet, usb, pci and many unknown devices were marked with a yellow exclamation mark that disappeared after i installed the drivers. I believe one of them must be the problem.

Try running the free version of memtest86 on the ram, one stick at a time, if you get any errors the stick needs tor be rma.
It creates a bootable USB so it doesn't need windows

win 10 seems more sensitive to bad ram than 7 was

So your BIOS is version F4? Not a lot of information in the boards FAQ, its all about win 7, win 10 should be easy to install it seems.

Do you have another PC? Might need to test 1tb hdd out and see if its not the reason it won't install. Since you got 7 on it and it only stopped working after it was installed would indicate it isn't

Yes, my bios is version F4.

I moved the hdd to my other computer and installed Windows 10 without any problems.
I then moved the hdd to the new computer and the screen now stays stuck at "preparing automatic repair". I thought it would atleast BSOD but nothing.

Tonight i will run memtest on each ram stick and if they are ok, i will send the motherboard back and get another brand.
