I recently had to re-install XP (I really like XP) and had a lot of problems, drivers, etc. I think everything is working OK now Internet, audio, etc.). However, I can't install Windows 2000. I've tried my original W 2000 CD, and a new to me copy from a reliable eBay vendor. Both of then get a message that says "we" can't verify the license number. My original W 2000 CD has been installed on many PC's thru the years, most recently on a Windows 10 PC. Any ideas?

Call MS. This can happen when you resintall often. You just need to prove you actually have the COA, if they will even make you send a copy into them anymore...

While you certainly need a correct key for the media (VLK, retail, OEM, etc.) There is NO activation in 2000. Just pop in a correct key and go.
