Can't install windows on my hdd

I just got a new ASUS M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 and a new CPU the rd 6300 6 core 3.5 ghz. When trying to reinstall windows it won't let me install it on my 300gb storage. Error: windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

win10 yes and yes

There does not seem to be Windows 10 drivers for that motherboard. It may still work OK. Did you go into the BIOS and select the correct disk type and format? You may need to turn on Legacy support for Windows 7 instead of UEFI and have AHCI.
