I have the following new system: Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394
Sempron 2400
512Mb pc 3200
Maxtor SATA 160 GB
Maxtor PATA 40GB
Gigabyte GV-N52128DE
Graphics

I initially tried installing XP pro on the SATA using the drivers from
the cdrom
on a floppy disk as described in the manual.
Then tried installing 2000 pro.

Then gave up on SATA and attempted the same with the PATA.

Either way I've had no success. Both drives are recognized. I can
format but the file copying stalls at 27% with XP pro and 85% with 2000
pro.
SATA mode is set to IDE(not RAID)
The PATA is primary IDE master ,the CD is secondary master and the SATA

is at channel 2.
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong or where the problem may be?
Both OS can be installed on the PATA using my old PC.

This is just a guess, but it could be a mem problem.
thats an odd one. have you tried another stick of ram? or perhaps another
cpu temporarily? If that don't work I'd go as far as trying another video
card even.
Hope this helps.
