cant install xp from usb drive, ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupt

When I'm trying to install windows xp from a usb flash drive I get this message: windows could not start because this file is missing or corrupt: .... \ ntoskrnl.exe . At the same time when booting from a cd the installation goes normally. There are some solutions to this but they refer to this error in an OS already installed. How can I fix it in my case?

Boot into Safe Mode (F8) and do a Computer Repair.
