I'm trying to help my friend
with his HPmx50. This is probly a windows problem. When starting up,
it shows HP splash screen, then winXP loading, then BLACK. Cant log
in. Since I cant log in, none of the F-boot choices work, using boot
to doss floppy wont work, boot with XPcd wont work. Boy, if I could
log in, I no I could fix it. He said this happened when he used
system restore. Any ideas?

Have you tried pressing [F8] while the HP splash screen is up. If
you keep tapping it, you should get the diagnostic boot screen which
would allow you to boot using last known good configuration.

Ya... Did that. It wont go to
enything on that page, or the bigger list @ F5. Made a boot to dos
floppy, and nothing will respond. Reset CMOS, and set bios to
default. Still black screen after winnows loads. No log in
page.
