So in IE I go to manage add-ons, I click on the search provider section, I click on "find more search providers", and it opens up a window with a list of search providers to choose from. Great so far!!

I click on google, and a new window pops up with the option "add to internet explorer". Ok, sweet. So I click on it and.............nothing! Nothing happens. Nothing gets added, no error messages, no loading bar, absolutely nothing happens, it's as though I never clicked it. And it's the same for every search provider listed, I can't add any of them. I'm sure I have some setting toggled that I shouldn't have which is preventing this, but I can't for the life of me figure out which one.

Please help!! My default search provider is Bing, and I hate Bing!! I can't change it to anything else. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

If you have installed update KB3038314, then no, right now there's nothing
you can do (except wait for MS to sort out the mess they've made), but then
I would never use IE anyway, so insecure it's banned from govt offices in
some countries. Try Firefox, Chrome, etc. instead in the meantime. Indeed,
FF defaults to Google.
