Can't make Internet connection

On my wife's computer which is wired direct to router, she cannot sign on to internet. I have same setup on my computer but do not have a problem. From what I see she has internet connection but cannot sign on. I think it has to do with her username and password but have tried everything she has ever used. Or, is she really connected to internet?

There should not be any username and password for the internet. Check the web browser and make sure you don't have a proxy setup in the options. Also check her IP settings, do an ipconfig /all command at a dos prompt, compare it to your computer, the IPs should be almost the same except for the last digit and the DNS and Proxy server addresses should be the same on both computers.
