Can't Make More Than 1.5GB Partition

Ok, so my long term goal is to get Ubuntu up and running on Windows 8 (and no, I'm not using Wubi). I'm installing the iso right now. I tried to create a partition for Ubuntu, but I can only shrink my C partition down 1.5 GB even though it's a TB hard drive (I have over 300GB left). I just want to make a 20 GB partition for Ubuntu. Any suggestions?

Already tried it. I used EaseUS and AOMEI Partition Manager. AOMEI made me panic when my computer had to do a startup repair, and EaseUS just didn't work. I'm worried that something may be wrong with my hard drive.

Hi

make as much free space as you can on your Windows drives
disk cleanup, un-install unwanted programs or Windows features
remove system restore points
empty rcycle bin
run cc cleaner

run chkdsk

[You want to fix any file system errors before running defrag or re partition tools]
then defagment hard disk with option to defragment free space
(eg move all parts of all files to front of drive )

then use reliable program such as Parted Magic / gparted etc to shrink your Windows drive

chkdsk is just the windows derangementer tool, right? I just ran that like three days ago, but I'll try it again.

So do I just run it in CMD?

Edit: Ok, I think it's running. Thanks for your help so far guys!
