Hello,

So I have this large .bmp file of about +- 5GB, which contains a huge image.

I had that same .bmp before that was a +- 2GB version of that image.
The latter, I managed to open in Photoshop, the 5GB version, no way.
Guess i'm running out of memory.

It would be handy if somehow I could convert that 5GB one to another format or compres it without losing too much detail.

In the end it should end up as a .jpg (or .png) anyway.

Does anyone have any idea how to help me out?

Here are my specs:

16GB 1866mhz RAM
3.4Ghz i5-4670
GTX 770 2GB

Nothing else is running!
The exact message I get when opening it in PS is:

"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."

Yea I assumed that would mean the file is corrupted, but that seems very unlikely since it was made exactly the same way as the 2GB version and no error seems to have occured when checking the logs of the creation of the 5GB file.

I have tried Paint.net and nothing happened, I haven't tried GIMP though.
