I just installed my new NVMe drive, It is a Samsung PM961 256GB drive, I have bought a program to migrate my OS to the M.2 However It does not do so, It goes through the process and it reboots my system however the M.2 drive has become an un-allocated drive and I have to re-allocate the drive.
Whats happening here?

Just to correct it is a Samsung SM961, NOT PM961

i7 4770K
16GB 2400MHz ram
1 x 120gb SSD (boot drive)
1 x Samsung SM961 256GB
1 x 3TB HDD
1 x 1TB HDD
GTX 980ti Watercooled
Gigabyte Z97X-Game Plsu

Is this all fine?

I ran crystal diskmark on the drive and I am getting 800MB/s avg write 750MB/s avg read

Do you have any other computers? I have had the best luck with Macruim reflect (free version). Plug Current SSD into Usb to Sata on laptop or other computer. Create Image file. Put ssd back into system and boot. Use Macrium Reflect to load image file to M2 drive.

I am using reflect too, I have spent rather a large ammount now and its getting annoying I mirrored the SSD to the M.2 then I shut off the pc and remove the SSD, when I go to boot I get this error message: http://imgur.com/a/L352g

Any ideas what this is about?

Purchased a PM961 (OEM) nvme M.2 drive, which is why I asked after you initially.
Well, on my Z170 board it was much easier I found.

Cloning sata SSD to NVMe M.2 works.

  • Installed physical drive to M.2 slot and restarted Win 10 pro 64
    Did not format
    Installed Macrium reflect free
Cloned UEFI Intel 530 240G sata SSD (boot drive) to PM961
Shut down and physically disconnect cable from Intel sata SSD
Reboot & entered BIOS Set boot to boot from PM961
Checked boot was fine, load Administrative tools>Computer management>Storage module
.........EXTEND Main PM961 partition to use all of drive (or you could leave this for over provisioning)
    Exit management console
Open My PC (Explorer)> Right Click new C: (NVMe M.2)> Select properties> Rename from old C: name to whatever you choose.
Test new drive with ATTO or whatever and prosper.

    Shut down.
    Re-connect sata SSD
Re-boot to BIOS and MAKE SURE sata SSD is disabled from boot list!
start Windows then re-purpose sata SSD as you wish (I re-formatted for storage only, but my re-use in an imac)
