Question Can't mirror downloaded video files to TV via HDMI

I have downloaded videos to my Chromebook via Starz and Netflix apps. When I plug my Chromebook into my TV via HDMI the screen mirrors properly, audio and video both work. However when I try to play one of the downloaded videos from either app I get audio through the TV but no picture. This issue only occurs with downloaded files. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd say because these videos come from Starz/Netflix.
Download a sample video from site like https://www.sample-videos.com/, and check how they do play on your 'book and TV.

I wasn't aware you could download from these streaming sites due to copyrights, so if u did the download was not able to circumvent the copy protection.

That's my theory as well. It's got to either be a file format issue or some strange copyright protection issue. I'll try on of these videos later to confirm, thanks.

Yeah, you've been able to download via the Netflix app since like 2016. Starz and others followed shortly thereafter.
