Cant move files to DVD using new DVD-R drive...

It always says there's 0 bytes free room even though on one DVD there's only 1 file that's like only 300kb in size.. I can read the files currently on the DVD and move them onto my hard drive but I can't drag and drop any file onto the DVD without getting that message..

What kind of BS is this?

If the DVD was "finalised" when you first used it, you cannot write anything else to it, that's why it says "0 bytes free space".

What burning software did you use the first time you used the DVD?

none... I just put the DVD into the drive and started moving files over.. so I guess windows handled it..

But even if I put in a blank DVD that was never used ... it makes a strange noise.... and it doesn't even see that its there... It just says please insert a disk into DVD drive D... Yet there is a DVD in there....

I was writing and deleting files from this same DVD with my old DVD drive... so why would it not be the same with this new drive?

Must have something to do with it being a different burner then I guess, though exactly what I haven't a clue to be honest.

I've always used third-party burning software and chosen my own preferred burning method which is never multisession or packet-writing so I've never been in your situation. I've always saved files to some other media first until there was enough to fill a DVD, burn to DVD then finalise it.

did you not notice that this drive is a DVD-ROM... and not a DVD-RW drive? I bought the wrong type of drive
