cant open task manager. no explorer.exe

i ended the task, explorer.exe and cant open my task manager with cad buttons, any ideas ???? please

You've done the simplest thing? Shutdown and restart? If so, and explorer.exe is corrupt you will need to do a system repair.

You don't know the operating system? (windows 7, windows 8, etc...) umm alright never mind then no problem. Try this...

Hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up the Task Manager.

Then in the Task Manager, click File, New Task (Run...).

Then type:

explorer.exe

**cheers mate but i tried all these already, but when i use shift+esc it brings up a different task manager, one im not used to. there is no file so i cant hit new orr anything :/

Does it say "more details" at the bottom of the task menu? If so press that first then you should see the file button at the top.

nope, its like its just google chromes task manager. emmm at the bottem of that page it has "stats for nerds"

See if its even explorer.exe that your saying is ended.

cheers again, but sure i cant get into my start menu as my exporer.exe is gone, and cant open my task manager, like i no all that stuff but just cant seem to find an obvious simple solution to this.

Press Windows-R (for run) and try starting explorer.exe in there

Or it might be labeled Start (between left Ctrl and Alt)

Ok, when your computer is running, are you able to do anything? and what all do you actually see on your screen? I've got a theory depending on your answers I believe

like the fact ive kept google open i wouldnt be able to do anything, like my desktop is blank, wel apart from my screensaver

And you restarted? Sounds like you haven't even tried a reboot

haha sure i was afraid in-case i couldn't get into my start menu.. ha so i really just restart it an it will be fine? ooo i am dense sometimes, thanks and sorry if this is the case ? but I'm still going to wait for you to say it is..

Rebooting will reload all 'closed' programs that Windows needs to run (like explorer.exe) 😛
