Can't overclock 4870!?!?!?!?!? @_@

I got my new ATI Radeon 4870 in the mail the other day and I tried to overclock it and I'll put the overclock at as little as 1mhz and the screen gets blotchy and performance decreases, I KNOW my hardware is not running hot either, I don't think I have a bad card, but just a blockage on overclocking????What do you all think? What can I do to get my card to overclock?

Well, for one, if its giving you so many problems..
I dont personally overclock (really wouldn't if i had a 4870 seeing as it can pretty much hold its own with any game out now).
But get AtiTools
Great overclocking utility for ATI/Nvidia cards.

Or just dont overclock...
You dont need to, you wont notice THAT big of a difference, and more heat?
