I've got a bit of a problem. My system runs stable in XP but I can't boot into Vista with anything more than 2.7Ghz. Can someone please help me?

My Rig

Intel Q6600 with Coolermaster Hyper TX Cooler
Biostar T-Series P965PT
2GB Transcend Jetram
320GB 8800GTS
Coolermaster IGreen 600W PSU

I know, but the strange thing is that I never had problems it only started after I installed my new Coolermaster PSU. So I thought thats strange and but back my old 450w and still no vista! I can't even install Vista anymore but everything was sweet before.

I sincerely doubt it's a Vista problem - I boot into V just fine at 3.2Ghz, and have done so up to 3.8.

Good to know what HW you have - What are your settings??? You *do* know that memory and Front Side Bus are linked on most Intel boards, right?? The last few people I've seen posting here with similar issues were unintentionally clocking their RAM to death as they were going for more CPU speed.

Says you have a Q6 - a popular combo for this chip is an 8 multiplier on the processor, 400 Mhz at the FSB, and your RAM set to run at DDR2 800. You should be able to do this on near stock voltages - maybe bump the proc a couple notches.

i actually had the reverse problem
don't discount bad drivers.
in my case it was my raid driver from marvel

My memory is at a 1:1 ratio so that means 333. Using 9 x 333 = 3Ghz at 1.3000v , stock V for NB and FSB. I also ran a complete memtest 3.3 and no errors with my memory at tight timings. Also tried relaxing timings still same problem. My Vista runs stable - prime95 for 4hours and stopped it to play games. Vista always worked fine at 333 even at 340fsb. I am stumped
