Can't overclock higher then x38 multiplier

Dear members,

I've been stuck for a while now.
I can't overclock my 2600k CPU. I use a fatal1ty performance p67 mobo.
I've seen youtube video's where they can easily reach 45 multiplier, yet I can't get past the x38.

I've tried downgrading the bios version, which actually led into a bad flash, so now it's back at version 2.2
I've updated all my drivers.
I tried using all the drivers on the mobo page. Even if they were older then the ones I had already.

After alot of googling, it made me think it was the Intel ME driver, but even that one is up to date right now, and the older version from the mobo site didn't work either.

When I do put the multiplier at 38, windows only shows me 35, or 37. But never the 38 that I saved in the bios. When I enter bios, there still stands the 38 multiplier.
I can't find an option in the bios where I can disable any OS overwriting.

Also, I use 1600mhz DDR3 memory, but it only uses 1300mhz speed. Can't even see the option for 1600mhz.

Do you guys have any idea what else I can try?

Regards,

Yes your 2600 is not a k model so your multiplier is locked and you can not over clock the processor. Your only alternative is to get more/faster memory and set windows power setting to high performance to squeeze out any more power out of the cpu.

That's an really easy answer, isn't?
The processor itselfs says it's a 2600k. All the monitoring programs say it as well.
So I highly doubt that it is not an k processor.

Do you have enough voltage applied for those ratios?

check your software which came with mainboard, it usualy comes with overclocking tool, see if its not interfering with your bios settings (like loading no overclock profile on boot)
running win in safe mode would work too to see if multiplier applies there

I've tried upping the voltages a bit, but the multiplier keeps at 38.

I personally think it's somewhere an software issue, but I do not know which one anymore..

I've read up alot on it lately, and my bios should be able to see my 1600mhz memory as well, but it just does not.
Therefor I do believe its software related.

When I load in a premade OC from Asrock board it self, the multiplier goes higher then the 38, but even then I can't adjust it higher, only lower.
There are premades like 42, 44, 46 and 48.
The premades adjust voltages as well.

But once I save it up, windows does not recognize the OC.
When I enter bios again, the OC is saved in the bios..

With the software I get from the mobo, I can't adjust multiplier more then 38 as well...
And before people are going to try to tell that overclocking higher then 38 isn't possible with this board, there are several youtube video's that hit 4.5 and even one weirdo that want to frie everything and reaches 5+.
So it should be possible.

at first, I didnt even had that software on the pc. So it shouldnt cause problems now.
Just downloaded it to see if I could hit more then 38 on that software and check if it was bios related.

Just tried that ( again ) and didn't work.
Thanks for the effort due.

Didnt work as well, thanks due.
If it would have been that simple, I would have killed myself. 🙂
